Friendship. Our close friends are like family and our extended family are like friends. For millennia family and friends have gathered around the fires, in the clearings, made tea or coffee, smoked something, ate together, shared their stories, and talked of good times. This is an age old practice of getting together and catching up on all that was missed from the last time you gathered. It is to meet new family members, honor those who have past, and enjoy each others company. This connection allows you to see your roots and where you come from. It allows you to see what you share in common with them and how each of you are unique. It is a great way to learn how to love the people of the world with all of their diversity and yet some similarities. After all we all one big family on this Earth.

Friendships are our karmic connections, and soul tribes.

When we interact with friends there’s a lively energy captured in the mood. One of conversations, connections, close encounters, and celestial love. Today we look at our pathways in friendships and whether we find it easy to be in these social circles or if we struggle with a social sphere. We take time to look at what kind of friends we are and how we give and receive in our friendships. Friendships broaden our horizons, stretch our philosophies, and help us see past superficial boundaries like race, culture, etc. They show us a soul connection.

Our Extended Family

The 8th day of Yule is about visiting and celebrating with our extended families and all of our friends. Even if it is virtual. We treat this day much like the day we share with our intimate family, with gifts, singing and feasting. We like to play games on this day and maybe even bake too. On this occasion it is usually like a pot luck as every family brings food and treats. Our contribution this year is meat trays, deli meats, sausages, cheeses, crackers, fruit, punch and scotch.

We like to draw names for the gifts and sometimes we make a little something for everyone. The host or hostess always gets a gift basket. Enjoy the traditions that are shared by all families involved. This is the time to accept and love everyone. This day may warrant many journal pages as you want to write down and cherish all of the stories shared. I would want to make sure I document stories from those who may not be with us in the coming years. That way we can share them with the new generations to come. Much love to you and yours this season.
