December 31st is the last day of the Gregorian Calendar that is used by most of the world for our economic and global tracking of time. Those locations around the world that follow additional calendars for various purposes, political or religious will note multiple dates when addressing the passage of time. This is the case here as we acknowledge many times of the year that pin point times when a full cycle has turned. Some Pagan traditions see Samhain as the end of a cycle into another turning of the Wheel of the Year. The Lunar New year is celebrated around February of the Gregorian Calendar as a turning of another years time. All of the ways around the world to commemorate a turning of a years time are significant and allow us to stay in tune with nature and all that is.

This New Years we associate with the global economy and where we fit into it. It is a time we embrace our current prosperity and our wealth for the next year. On this New Year’s Eve we perform rituals for appreciation of our past year and its blessings. We celebrate all that has been given to us.

As we arrive at the end of a cycle, even a material one, it teaches us that every act we make is of vast importance to the whole of evolution. All we have to do is look back at our year, and what is around us to see how our choices and thoughts have created the surrounding reality. On this day we can contemplate how it is if our lives take on a cosmic focus, then life itself will intensify within us, moving us naturally into a far more co-operative pattern with our environments and with others. Every intentional act is a magical act, setting in motion either a force of creativity or a force of decay.

Whenever we stand at the beginning of a journey, like this one with the New Year, it is the first step that sets the tone for the entire journey and the next few steps that begin to create the momentum. After even a relatively few steps in, it becomes more difficult to change your direction since that involves wrenching yourself out of your existing momentum and creating a new one. Therefore whenever you reach a natural beginning — of a new cycle, a new relationship, a new home, even a new year — you would do well to remember this truth: ‘Those first few steps are absolutely critical to your evolution in the year ahead. Contemplate them deeply and with great intention step into the life you want this coming year. You must capture the energy of your dream and hold onto it deep inside, because it is that dream that will be the focus that is the power of magic and manifestation in your life.’

As your vision of reality expands to contain universes, you realise how small you really are. At the same time you get to see how enormous your contribution to the whole is when you truly take the plunge and listen to your heart.” – Richard Rudd

It is a party!! We decorate with every symbol of prosperity and wealth from around the world. We sing, or wassail, and dance. We laugh and play games. It is a time of joy and fun. We extend Best Wishes to all we know and love. We extend our love to everyone for the New Year. We act and feel the way we want our New Year to be for us. We want life to be filled with joy and cheer. We want to be prosperous in health, love and wealth. This is the first steps to the next momentum in our lives.

Our menus have varied through the years. Mainly party foods, as the kids love finger foods. This year’s menu is Stuffed Shells, Garlic Bread, Artichoke Dip, Other Dips, Chips, Punch, & Champagne. On this evening we burn the decorated Yule Tree and the rest of our Yule logs. Gifts are usually a new garment or jewelry for all to wear on New Year’s Day. Be creative and celebrate the way your family loves to party! Best Wishes To All!!!

Blessed Be
