On this sixth day of Yule, we commemorate the intimate family. On this day we like to bond over family traditions passed down and ones we picked up over the years. It is the day of love in the home. Home and those close to us are like a refuge. A place of acceptance and love. But it can also be a place of challenges and upheaval. The healing of our core wounds is done primarily through relationships. Rubbing off the rough areas of our interior worlds is done mainly by our closest relationships in our homes. Many families come together this time of year. Some rejoicefully and others reluctantly. Some not at all. But all willingly or not willingly, reflect on those they have been close to.

The trick to healing and finding joy in looking inward during the darkest days of the year, is allowing this process of seeing how all those relationships have shaken you up and can help bring balance. Sometimes it means coming together with them, and at other times it means forgiving them and yourself from afar.

Healing. The first thing we think of is physical. But the truth is it is on so many levels of Self. It can be mental, emotional, physical, and even spiritual. When we decided to be born as a “person” in this physical world, we have sacrificed a previous balanced state of ease. We enter a state of “Out of Ease” and must readjust. Out of ease, or dis-ease, is an imbalance, always disturbing the previous balance. All our childhood we are constantly battling dis-eases. We are told as kids that those colds etc. are building up our immune system. This “immune system” is an internal paradigm of healing. As it keeps trying to adjust the ease of the body, it gets stronger, becoming a source of our healing through life. It applies to all the levels of our healing. This ” dis-ease testing” is also constantly applied to your mental strength, emotional strength, and spiritual strength. We know this testing as “life”, The Soul has sacrificed its placidity, to become “You”.

This season triggers deep contemplation in all of us. The idea is to allow some of it to pass through and feel it. Identify it for the test it is. And appreciate it. Let all the physical traditions to be reminders of this beautiful process. This day has many stories and traditions associated with it around the world. These tend to be about giving, sharing, and forgiving. This applies to those in our lives and to ourselves as individuals. As our healing occurs be patient with yourself and relax. It is not all done at once, but finding the gifts and love you have inside of you is the most precious gift of all. For what you do for the whole, you do unto yourself and vice versa.

Whatever traditions you hold dear, do them for this purpose. If those traditions are still too hard or raw, make some new ones just for you and your family. My family likes filling the stockings and giving each other a gift. We spend this day doing things for each other. We enjoy a feast and the Yule fire. We read stories of old about giving without expecting a return. I try to get a project like a large Lego kit, or an art project and we build it together, spread out on the big table or the floor. We dance and the kids wrestle and play. No matter how grown they are.

Sometimes there is some nostalgia and we talk about good and bad from our past. Why some people are part of our lives and others not. And then just allowing those feelings. The menu I have planned is roast beef with root vegetables, gravy, homemade rolls, leak salad, pears, carrot cake, and pomegranate punch. Today is about healing and health of our family. So, no candies and such. Lots of fruit and nuts. Don’t worry there are treats on other days of Yule. Gifts vary. Some bought, and some made. All from the heart. I send all of you energies of Universal Agape Love this season. And don’t forget to journal all of those beautiful memories you just made, and note how grateful you are for all that you have been through. It has made you who you are and will continue to affect the evolution of your human story.

Blessed Be
